Every year millions of adults and children around the world are affected with diabetes. These individuals may confront health problems that impede on their quality of life. For individuals suffering from diabetes, the disease is a very real issue. The disease is the result of the body being unable to produce or properly use a form of sugar known as glucose. Glucose then becomes backed up in the body's bloodstream. When the body's blood glucose levels are too high, a number of health complications can occur including blindness, stroke, male impotence, heart failure, kidney failure and possible amputation because of blood vessel disease. Diabetes can take two forms; Juvenile Diabetes and Type II Diabetes. In the Juvenile form of the disease, which most frequently affects children and young adults, the body stops producing insulin completely. As a result, the individual must take insulin injections to manage the disease. In the Type 2 form of the disease, the body either does not produce enough insulin or is not able to make proper use of it. Many individuals who suffer from diabetes are forced to endure insulin injections each and every day. In some cases, diet and lifestyle management can help to control the symptoms associated with diabetes; however, this is not the cases in all situations. In both situations, the goal is to take whatever actions are necessary in order to keep the body's blood glucose levels as close to normal as is possible to prevent further complications. Antidiabetic agents work to help control blood glucose. They work in numerous different ways to treat the factors, which are believed to contribute to the rise of blood glucose.
